Construction Liens

A construction lien can be a powerful remedy for payment of outstanding accounts. Individuals and businesses who supply services or materials to a wide variety of building sites are eligible for liens. However, there are strict time periods within which the lien must be advanced and within which legal actions must be commenced.

In addition, in some cases lien claimants who have a valid lien can claim priority of payment over certain mortgages registered on title to a building property. In addition, under certain circumstances a lien claimant can also claim directly against officers and directors of the debtor company, when the company has no money to pay its bills.

Because of the strict time periods and the complexities of the Construction Lien Act, it is important to have experienced legal counsel in this area. Our firm has been involved in construction litigation for over twenty years and we have the experience to assess and pursue these claims.
